The Entertainer will often combine his playing of the Great Highland Bagpipes with Scots/Irish folk music and storytelling. Some stories will  share the history   and evolution of the bagpipes as we know them today.

 

The Entertainer, a.k.a. Douglas Rickard began musical instruction at the age  of six. Growing up in a home where

the love of music was nurtured, he was taught to play a brass instrument while continuing his vocal development training.

 

During high school, he studied classical guitar and highland bagpipes.  He pursued a BA in

Music Performance – Voice at Cleveland State University.  and was ordained as a minister in 1981.  Music is a central part of his approach.
