Worship

Worship is the central act of the people of God. In worship, we acknowledge God as the source of our life, give thanks and praise to God, and through prayer offer and open ourselves to God's presence. The meaning of the Hebrew word for worship is deeper than can be expressed in English - meaning serve, work, till, and worship. It accurately reflects that worship is not only what we do when we gather together. Rather worship is an approach that we carry throughout our lives and tasks. In communal worship, the people of God are renewed and transformed, equipped for their worship, service and work in the world. Worship is on Sunday mornings at 10:30 AM. Communion, the Lord's Supper is served on the first Sunday of each month. Children are welcome in worship at any time! Sunday school is also available for children pre-school through sixth grade. For those who want to participate, Sunday school begins following "Sharing Faith with Children." Choir The choir sings in worship and rehearses from September-June. Choir rehearsals are held Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:30 p.m. and all are welcome. Music instruction is provided. Contact Nora Zablow for more information. A Children’s Choir also sings at various times throughout the year. Rehearsals, when they are held, follow Sunday morning worship. To find out more about the Children’s Choir, contact Wendy Dale [ Lay Readers Lay readers assist in worship by participating in the liturgy, leading the Call to Worship and reading Scripture. Worshipers of all ages, male or female, with a clear voice are welcome to serve as lay readers. Click here to request more information or to sign up as a lay reader. Communion ServersCommunion is served the first Sunday of each month. Communion is served by intinction and also served to people in the pews on alternate months. Five (5) Communion Servers are needed on when Communion is served to people in the pews; Three (3) when served by intinction. Ordained Presbyterian Deacons and Elders are welcome and encouraged to sign up to serve. Please contact Kathy Adams in the church office to sign up. AcolytesChildren first grade and older are invited to serve as acolytes, lighting the candles at the beginning of worship, and extinguishing them and carrying the light out with them at the end of worship. If your child would like to serve as an acolyte, there is a sign up sheet at the back of the sanctuary. You may also contact the church office.
