History

Kearsarge Community Presbyterian Church was organized in the mid 1980's. The congregation first met as a fellowship at Colby-Sawyer College under the leadership of the Rev. George R. Pomeroy until December 1985. KCPC was chartered by the Presbytery of Northern New England on January 23, 1988, with 74 members. The sanctuary was completed in 1989, and in 1993 the addition of Foulkes Hall allowed space for fellowship and church school.  In May of 2004 the church dedicated additional space, which included an Education Wing,  an Administrative Wing as well as a new kitchen, and expanded Foulkes Hall. The Rev. John Wall was the first installed pastor and served until July 2000. In August 2001, the Rev. Robert Merrill began his ministry as the congregation's sceond installed pastor.

The church bell, a part of KCPC worship service since 1994, called villagers to worship at the United Presbyterian church of East
Ryegate, Vermont, from 1923-1983. It seemed appropriate that a church having ended its ecclesiastical life should pass the bell along to a church just beginning. The bell and enclosure are now situated in the center of the KCPC Memorial Garden, adjacent to the sanctuary.

Church Programs

Worship

The center of the life of our church is the worship service. At this time we gather together to praise God for the Lord's goodness
and grace. Child care is provided during worship for pre-school children.

Session

The Session of Elders are elected by the congregation as lay leaders. Working with the pastor, they function as spiritual and administrative leaders.

Deacons

The Board of Deacons are responsible for the outreach and caring ministries of KCPC, assisting wherever needs are found.

Mission

Our mission activities at KCPC are Bible and Faith based-sharing God's word, God's word, God's gifts, and loving our neighbors as ourselves.

Sunday School

Classes are held for children ages 3-13 during the 10am Worship Service, September through May. Our lectionary-based curriculum enables children, youth, and adults to learn and worhip with a focus on the same Biblical passages. Children's bulletins are also available on a weekly basis.

Vacation Bible School

A week-long session is held for children ages 3 through Grade 8 sometime during the summer vacation.
