Dr. Cliff Creel

Dr. Creel took office as Stated Clerk of the Presbytery of Northern New England on January 1, 2004. Cliff is an Elder and member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church, Bedford, New Hampshire, where he is Clerk of Session.

For the past four years, Cliff has served as moderator of the Committee on Preparation for Ministry. He has previously held the positions of chair of Adult Education, chair of Worship and Music, served on a Pastor Nominating Committee, preached on a number of occasions and administers the church's computer network and web site. He also frequently plays the piano and organ in worship.

Cliff has a Ph.D. in Chemical Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and worked for Shell Development in Houston managing polymer R&D before starting his own company in 1982, Savant Software, Inc. Today, that company is located in Bedford, NH and, although small, is still going strong with Cliff as the President and Chief Technical Officer.

During graduate work at MIT, Cliff took a leave of absence to serve as a nuclear submarine officer in the U. S. Navy, spending much of his time in the waters off Vietnam.

To the Stated Clerk position, Cliff brings considerable organizational and leadership skills, along with a deep faith in Jesus Christ. He truly believes that if we will really listen to each other and allow the Holy Spirit to work within us, we can do great things.
